Jacqueline Kinney Johnson is a former tribal missionary to the Kuna Indians located on the Colombian border in Central America. The vision for The Princess Parable Series was born in these jungles. She is the wife of Pastor Ralph Johnson and the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of three princesses, Catherine, Alexandra Grace, and Megan Joy and four young knights, Zack, Payton, Maverick, and Christopher. She delights in stirring young hearts and imaginations with Godly character and the certainty of becoming a child of the King for eternity. Her passion is mentoring and equipping dedicated young women for life, marriage, motherhood, and beyond. She lives in a castle perched high on a hill above the Pacific Ocean in Southern California.
Omar Aranda studied Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he was born. Many top publishers and companies worldwide have commissioned him for projects including story artwork, comics, and character design. He started his career as an artistic painter but now devotes all of his time to illustrations for children's products.

Great Children's Books!

My girls (toddler/preschooler) are really into princesses right now, but I'm not thrilled with the messages that Disney conveys thru their princess stories. My sister-in-law introduced me to the Princess Parables and I fell in love! :) These books are beautifully illustrated with bright colors and pretty scenes, are good quality, and the stories are fantastic. They teach the character qualities I want my girls to value, and it elevates their relationship with their father, the King, instead of them just moping around waiting for their Prince Charming. I would highly recommend these for any little princess-loving girls out there!! :)

Surprisingly nice princess story however lacks any diversity.

When my daughter first came home with this title from her school book fair I was a bit disappointed assuming it was yet "another" princess book. While reading it to my daughter I loved the message and Princess Charity is about far more than looking pretty. She is full of energy and likes adventures. The theme is about being kind to others and helping those in need which lead to a good discussion with my daughter and I.
While I love the message and lovely illustrations in the story I hesitate because there is no diversity present (even in the background characters). All of the characters are of the same ethnic make up and all the princesses in this story have "perfect" hair, body, etc. and appear to have on eyeliner. I avoid barbie for the message that sends to my daughter so I cringe a little with that aspect in this story.
We also really like Princess Grace which has a good message and diversity of all ethnic backgrounds and The Paperbag Princess who is take charge, brave, non-traditional and funny to read.

Nice message of thinking of others more than yourself (Good Samaritan). Was not thrilled that the princess went beyond where she was told to go... basically disobeying, and there wasn't much addressing that directly.
