About the Author
Chris Folmsbee has served as a youth pastor for nearly 15 years, and now serves as a volunteer youth worker in his local church. He currently leads Barefoot Ministries, a youth ministry training and publishing company located in Kansas City, and is on staff with Youthfront. Chris is the author of several books including his most recent, Story, Signs, and Sacred Rhythms: A Narrative Approach to Youth Ministry. He lives in Overland Park, Kansas, with his wife, Gina, and their three children, Megan, Drew, and Luke.
Nate Severson has been in middle school ministry for over 15 years. He currently serves at Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, KS. Nate is passionate about doing things out of the box in ministry, really good coffee, raising his four kids, and spending time with his wife, Kirsten.

Great Youth Ministry Resource

This book is a great youth ministry resource, especially for middle school girls. Each unit is centered around a theme. It starts with an interactive activity. We add a devotional to it that goes along with the theme and the scripture provided. It ends with thoughtful quotes and a prayer idea.
We are using it to frame a small group, but it can also be used as an interactive devotional. Our middle school girls love it and are excited to do it each week.

A beautiful mess of honesty

I've never been given such permission to mess up a book before, from slapping mud onto its first page to dripping candle wax halfway in. It's all a brilliant way to invite students to let God have His way in their lives, creating a devotional that is bathed in Scripture yet as gritty as sandpaper. Perfect for virtually all ages, including young people and adults looking for something to process together.

Jr. High kids are into it!

My two kids, both in Jr. High, are using this book as a daily devotional and then bringing it to Youth Group for Sunday morning discussion time. They are really into it. You truly ruin the book as you go through it which they love. The devotions seem to keep their interest and they have enjoyed discussing the book with their peers.
